Wedding FAQ's & Terms and Conditions

Q-How much of the wedding day do you cover

A - A typical wedding day for us begins a few hours before the ceremony, with the bridal preparations right through to the first dance and a bit beyond, whilst covering everything in between.

Q - What is your wedding photography style

A - I combine together a mixture of contemporary natural and documentary photography, telling the story of your wedding with beautiful images.

Q - What photos do you take

A - A range of images from natural candid pictures of your day and your guests, some posed groups, if required, with family and friends, through to romantic iconic photos of the couple, ensuring that all key parts of the day are captured, and everything else in-between. We will initially meet to chat about your plans for the day. Nearer the date I allocate times with the you for the group photos, and a list of groups photos you would like, as well as allocating enough time for a couple only shoot with you both during the day.  I will also ask you to tell me what photos are important to you, and making sure on the day you get what you require.

Q - How long will it take to get my pictures

A - I usually quote around 4-6 weeks to have your images processed and be available to view online in your password-protected gallery, but is usually more like 3-4 weeks. During busy peak summer months, it may take a little longer.

Q - How many pictures do I get

A - There is no limit on number of photos taken during your day. Some of these will be duplicates, and others might not depict you or your guests looking quite so great in the moment, I therefore carefully go through all the images and remove un usable images. From a typical full days coverage you can expect around 400 plus images, but these numbers can vary depending on the day itself as no two weddings are the same. These images are then individually post-processed and edited by myself, which you will receive as high resolution JPEG's by digital download link,

Q - Do you provide RAW unedited files

A - Raw straight out of camera images are not available for viewing or purchase. The images I select for editing and your final gallery reflect my style and high standard of work and are supplied in jpeg format. Images not selected by me during the editing process are not archived and therefore not available.

Q - Do you take images in black and white too?

A - I shoot images in RAW colour for the best possible results and will then convert certain images to black and white where I feel this would suit the feel of the image in the editing stage. You will then receive a mixture of colour and black and white images from your wedding day.

Q - How long do you keep my photos online?

A - Your images are available to view in your online password-protected gallery for a minimum of 6 months. Professional quality prints can also be purchased directly from your gallery.

Q - What about copyright

A - The 1988 Copyright Act assigns the copyright to Peter Thomas Photography. However, you will receive a personal licence agreement with your images, allowing full personal usage, printing and copying rights.

Q - Can I upgrade my collection after the wedding

A - If you book a collection and decide after viewing you images you would like to upgrade by adding pages, or to a different album, this is no problem. All collections are upgradeable at additional cost

Q - When will I get my wedding album

A - Once you have approved your album images and design from the proofs the order will placed  All of our albums are hand made in Italy and finished to the highest quality and will usually be ready for delivery to you in around 4 to 6 weeks from date of confirming design, depending on time of year.

Q - Do we have to feed you on the wedding day

A - It is usual for a meal to be provided for us on the day, as we are there for a full day, we will usually retire when the wedding breakfast begins to a quiet area to eat and have a little break and return before the toasts, etc. Please be aware we are Vegan and therefore do not eat meat, diary, eggs or honey. If this is an issue please raise it at the time of booking.

Q - Do you travel

A - We are based just in Herne Bay, Kent, and do not charge for travel to weddings requiring up to 100 miles travel distance. Beyond this travelling charges at petrol cost only may apply. Any travelling expenses will always be agreed with the couple at the time of booking. If you let me know where you are getting married and I can estimate costs for you.

Q - Are you insured

A - I have full business insurance which includes cover for professional indemnity and public liability. Certificates can be provided should this be required.

Q - Do we need insurance ?

A - Yes I would recommend all couples have wedding insurance. It would cover things like cancellation, rearrangement, failure of suppliers, venue, wedding gifts, transport, video and photography, etc.

Q - Equipment Failure

A - I use top of the range up to date equipment and always have back up equipment with me, as far as possible we try to cover for most situations on the day.

Q - What happens if you fall ill on our day

A - In the very unlikely event that serious illness or for a reason beyond my control I am unable to attend on the day you will receive a full refund, I have a database of of photographers that I can call and try to put you in touch with should something extraordinary happen. I always recommend that couples invest in wedding insurance incase of any unforeseen circumstances, i.e illness, venue, caterers, etc. Happily I have never not been able to attend a booking.

Q - How much is the deposit

A - The non refundable booking fee is £200. This secures your wedding date and secures the day for you exclusively, so there is no chance of a 'double-booking'. This is deducted from the total cost of package chosen and the balance is payable 6 weeks before the wedding.  Around this time is when I will be in touch to go through your exact wedding photography requirements as well as the finer details of your day and  ask you for the timings for your day and a list of group photographs you might require.

Q - How do I book

A - Get in touch to check availability for your day. If we are available for your day, I’ll be delighted to arrange an obligation free meeting where we can sit down and have a chat about your wedding over a coffee or perhaps arrange an initial phone call for a chat. After the meeting if you decide you would like to book us, I will send you a link to an online booking confirmation and link to pay booking fee by BACS bank transfers (with online banking making this very easy for most people, and also free)
